Reminder: APE 2007

I will be in San Francisco THIS WEEKEND (April 21 – 22) at theAlternative Press Expo, taking place on April 21st – 22nd at the Concourse, 620 7th Street. I’ll be in the midst of a veritable ghetto of queer cartoonists, including: Tim Fish, Justin Hall, Cathy Camper, Robert Kirby, Bill Roundy, Monica Gallagher, Brett Hopkins, Tim Piotrowski, and Richard Ruane. Also in attendance but outside the ghetto are Prism Comics, Brad Rader, and Paige Braddock. APE is definitely the queerest comics festival I’ve attended.

Stuff I will have for sale includes:

  • UNPACKING, a 24 page mini reprinting the first Chapter of a long story I am serializing online series over at Adultwebcomics. The art’s being printed fairly large, 2 panels for page, and includes all the hardcore sex. It is pretty much guaranteed that when I eventually collect this is it going to look very, very different, so this mini is likely the only time it will be printed as is. Limited edition of 100, will be on sale on the website the week after APE
  • YOU CAN TELL US ANYTHING. My very first mini comic. Silkscreen, archival paper, 2001. I won’t way its my finest hour artwise, and my serigraphy skills are dodgy at best, but its not a bad little object, all things considered. I have about 20 of these left, it’ll never be reprinted in this format. I’m working on a revised version for the next SHIRTLIFTER, but the artwork’s going to be different.
  • Copies of STICKY 1 – 3, the collected hardcover, and SHIRTLIFTER #1
  • Various Cards and Prints

There’s also a couple of other events you might wish to think about if you’re planning to come and are interested in queer comics:

The first annual “Going APE!” event will take place at the 3 Dollar Bill Café at the LGBT Center at 1800 Market St. It’s a reading and signing by five independent, queer comics creators:

The event runs from 7-10pm, with readings beginning at 8pm.

Justin Hall will be moderating the Queer Cartoonists Panel for the fourth year now, on Sunday, April 22nd from 4:45-5:45pm in the APE conference area. Cartoonists include:

It’s a pretty good lineup, and generally informative. I was on last year’s panel, and it was a lot of fun to participate in.

OK, that’s long and that’s enough!
