I will be in Toronto for the Toronto Comics Art Festival (TCAF) on May 9 – 10 at the Toronto Reference Library on 789 Yonge Street. I will be selling comics, cards, prints and tshirts alongside my buddy Justin Hall of Hard to Swallow/True Travel Tales fame, who also did a story in SHIRTLIFTER #3.
There’s many events happening as part of the festival, but the one that I am taking part in is a Queer Cartoonists Reading that is taking place on Saturday May 9 at 7:00 PM. The venue is bart called Fire on the East Side, located at 6 Gloucester Street. Here’s the official press release:
What’s gay about comic books? Everything! From Batman and Robin right up to 300 Spartans and Dykes To Watch Out For.
Meet queer comics creators J. Bone (Jett Vector), Tim Fish (Cavalcade of Boys), Justin Hall (Hard To Swallow), Steve MacIsaac (Shirtlifter), Erika Moen (Dar: A Girly Comic), and Liz Baillie (My Brain Hurts) as they read from their newest works. Then Alan Moore collaborator Jose Villarrubia will lead all of the creators in a spirited conversation about what’s queer in comics, both on the page and behind the scenes.
Doors open at 6:30, event starts at 7!
“Comic Books Are Totally Gay” is an official event of The 2009 Toronto Comic Arts Festival, being held May 9th and 10th in Toronto, Canada. For more information on TCAF, please visit http://www.torontocomics.com/tcaf
