There’s a short feature called “Comic Book Queers” in the latest (August) issue of OUT magazine that profiles the work of myself, Justin Hall, and Ariel Shrag. While none of my art is featured, there’s one nice money quote in the paragraph the writer spends on my work:
“While certainly lustful, MacIsaac’s comics dissect gay male identity through a sexually visceral yet earnestly self-conscious lens. Some would call his recent Shirtlifter series provocative social commentary, others might see it as highbrow smut.”
I think that’s pretty apt.
The article says nice things about Justin and Ariel as well. I don’t want to post the whole thing and get in trouble, and the feature is not online at te OUT website, so check it out at the newsstand if you get a chance.
